The nightmare for the passengers and workers at the Costa Smeralda airport ( around a thousand people in total) ended at 8.25pm, when the reopening of the airport doors formalized the end of the emergency that had started three hours earlier when a phone call announced the presence of a bomb on the flight to Milan which should have left at 7pm .

Flights to Berlin, Frankfurt, Zurich, Linate and Fiumicino all departed late in the evening and arrivals were regular.

The phone call from a man with a Sardinian accent arrived at 5.30pm on 112 and - considering the state of alarm in all European countries and some details - was not underestimated, triggering the emergency plan and the evacuation of the airport which was done in ten minutes .

The bomb, according to the phone call, should have been found on the plane to Linate, an Aeroitalia flight that landed at 3.30 pm and was supposed to leave at 7 pm . Over two hours were needed for the necessary checks which ultimately ruled out the presence of the device .

Now there is a manhunt for the man who triggered the terrorism alert and who may have already been identified.
