Expensive tankers in Alghero, controversy in the Council over water costs
The opposition recalls the expense for users
Mayor Mario Conoci inaugurates the new tanker which has become part of the fleet of the Municipality of Alghero and is immediately controversial due to the high costs of the service.
«The new vehicle will mainly have a function linked to Civil Protection and to the improvement of the water supply service for the numerous homes located outside the urban center and not served by the city network. This is a modern and functional vehicle, which will partially replace the old and inefficient vehicles used in the city until now", we read in a note.
The opposition municipal councilor, Valdo Di Nolfo (Left in the Municipality), recalls, however, that the tanker costs dearly to users who have to shell out 70 euros for each load of water. «I asked and continue to ask the mayor, who never appeared before the Commission to discuss the problem, to meet the residents of the countryside to find an agreement on the cost of the tanker», says Di Nolfo.
In the last ten years the cost for 8000 liters of water has almost doubled, going from 36 to 70 euros per load.
