The sea is about to eat up State Highway 195, between Cagliari and Capoterra. Between kilometers 6 and 7, on the two-lane stretch between the Santa Gilla lagoon on one side and the Tyrrhenian Sea on the other, a rest area gave way. The asphalt opened up, tilting towards the water.

The first evident result of an erosion phenomenon that risks being unstoppable: for tens of meters the beach has disappeared and the sea laps the roadway. All it takes is a strengthening of the wind from the south-east and the water reaches the cars in transit, as happened in recent days: some cars traveling in the direction of the capital were forced to swerve suddenly, when the wave arrived.

Anas says that the situation is constantly monitored: the area of the collapse, for approximately 40 metres, has been cordoned off and the roadway has been narrowed.

But there is a real danger that it will soon be necessary to adopt more drastic security measures.
