There was a mess in the entrance hall of the house, where a niece found the body of Antonietta Piras on the floor. The coroner also saw pillows: a rather unreassuring detail, as it fuels suspicions that they may have been used to suffocate the elderly woman, as had previously occurred in the murder of a retired couple on Via Ghibli in Cagliari. The outlines of a "mystery" are all there in the investigation into the death of the 96-year-old pensioner found dead Wednesday evening in the Villasor home where she had lived alone for 23 years. Aunt Antonietta was childless, a widow, and despite her age, she still had a strong mind.

The suspects

The possibility of a violent death, although slightly more nuanced after the Carabinieri's RIS unit spent an entire morning searching for clues, remains the primary lead, which the investigation is attempting to confirm. Or deny. In the investigative hypothesis, if it was a homicide, the most likely possibility is assault with the intent of robbery.

Many answers are expected from the autopsy, which will be performed in the next few days by coroner Roberto Demontis.
