Sarrabus is thirsty. And in Muravera, limitations on water use are triggered, due to drought. The ongoing emergency, coupled with the lack of rain, has caused a reduction in the flow of local water sources, such as wells and springs, compromising the availability of water for the reservoirs of the entire south-east of Sardinia.
The alarm comes from Abbanoa which, in a note sent to the Municipalities, underlines how «the water resource coming from them is in fact barely sufficient to guarantee the regular water supply for 24 hours, therefore disruptions cannot be ruled out due to sudden drops in pressure and/or lack of supply, especially in the highest parts of the inhabited areas and in the time slots of greatest withdrawal».
Thus the Municipality has decided to limit the use of the precious good to human needs only (food, personal hygiene and environmental hygiene). Strictly prohibited, however, are operations in lawns and gardens, especially in Costa Rei, except during the night hours, washing of courtyard areas and squares and private vehicles, filling ornamental fountains, garden tubs, private swimming pools, in short, all uses other than domestic food and hygiene.
Mayor Salvatore Piu calls for greater civic awareness: "The situation is worrying. Let's respect these important and basic rules. If the emergency situation does not ease, the issuing of more restrictive ordinances is not excluded."
