Drought is once again affecting the island. Despite the unfortunately scant rainfall of recent days, the situation remains critical in the northwestern reservoirs of Bidighinzu, Cuga, and Temo.
The rationing plan decided last week by the crisis committee activated by the Region has therefore been confirmed.
The restrictions, as announced by Abbanoa, are intended to prevent a complete shutdown of water supplies in the affected municipalities by ensuring service using the extremely limited water resources available. However, residents are still experiencing significant inconvenience, with local governments attempting to address the situation with a dedicated assistance plan, including telephone lines and dedicated services.
RESTRICTIONS – Specifically, nighttime service closures from 10 pm to 6 am in Alghero continue; on Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, nighttime closures remain in place in the Sassari neighborhoods served by the Via Milano reservoir: Lu Fangazzu, San Paolo, San Giuseppe, Monserrato, Tingari, Monte Rosello Medio, Sassari 2, Porcellana Alta, Badde Pedrosa, Valle Gardona, and Gioscari. The closures will be repeated on the same days of the week in November.
Possible night-time closures could also affect Stintino and Porto Torres : currently, the reserves in the tanks in the first town and the supply from local wells in the second make it unnecessary, also because seasonal demand is decreasing.
The overnight shutdown is also planned until Friday the 31st in the municipalities of Sorso, Sennori, Ittiri, Ossi, Bosa, and Macomer . Starting Saturday, November 1st, the following centers will have alternate-day closures, with 24 hours of service followed by 24 hours of interruption : in Ossi, Sorso, Ploaghe, Thiesi, Usini, and Bosa, service will be on even-numbered days of the month, with the first closure from 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 1st to 8:00 a.m. the following morning; in Bonorva, Ittiri, Sennori, Tissi, Uri, and Macomer, service will be on odd-numbered days of the month, with the first closure from 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 2nd to 8:00 a.m. the following morning.
The situation is being constantly monitored by all stakeholders: Abbanoa, Enas, Adis, and Egas. As needed, the operator will activate a replacement service with tankers and hooklifts .
Abbanoa specifies that, together with municipal administrations, all those sensitive users, such as schools or social and healthcare facilities, that require ad hoc supplies to ensure the continuity of their services will also be identified.
Further support will be provided through the distribution of individual water supplies in easily transportable containers: a service aimed at, for example, the elderly who cannot refill their water from the tankers available on the streets.
