Water every other day in 17 municipalities of Nuoro, including the capital .
The drought emergency is once again making itself felt in a dramatic way, the scarcity of rains in the last period has dried up the Olai and Govossai dams : the quantity of water available is equal to 2.229 million cubic meters, 1.67 in Olai and 0.62 in Govossai, less than 20% of the capacity of the reservoirs . And it is constantly decreasing.
For this reason, all the municipalities served by the Jann'e Ferru aqueduct will be subject to restrictions starting from January 27. The list: Nuoro, Bolotana, Dorgali, Fonni, Gavoi, Lei, Lodine, Mamoiada, Oliena, Ollolai, Oniferi, Orgosolo, Orani, Orotelli, Ottana, Sarule and Silanus .
The decision came after the Crisis Table convened yesterday by the Region and after today's meeting of the administrators of the Municipalities involved with the representatives of Abbanoa and Egas.
The alert level has risen, reaching the “danger” phase which presupposes the need to safeguard the scarce water resources available to guarantee the service also in the coming months. The rationing plan provides, starting from Monday 27 January, the supply on alternate days in the 17 municipalities involved: 24 hours of opening and 24 hours of closing .
This is the same solution implemented last September in Baronia, which allowed to overcome the critical period related to the scarcity of resources in the Maccheronis reservoir. The plan, it is specified, will be constantly monitored and in case of improvements the measures will be revised.
At the same time, interventions to avoid dispersion are ongoing. The pumping system that diverts all the water from the Govossai to the Jann'e Ferru water treatment plant is already operational, while in Olai a raft intake will be built to draw water even below the level of the dam's intake structure. And Abbanoa will intensify maintenance interventions on the networks.
