Drought, alarm throughout Sardinia. There is a risk of new restrictions
Supplies halved, relief dams also under observationPer restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
There are those who pray for the arrival of rain because otherwise the drought situation in Sardinia will be really difficult . Not only for the central areas, Ogliastra, Nurra and Iglesiente, but for the whole island: at the beginning of February there were only 958 million cubic meters of water stored in the reservoirs, 440 million less than year ago, and just 52 million more - very little, the amount of a bath - compared to the previous month.
The monitoring map reported in the latest bulletin of the Basin Authority is an expanse of red (emergency) and orange (danger) flags, with only the Liscia dam, in Gallura, green. Gone are the yellow flags (supervision level) which in the December report marked the Oristano area and the entire Campidano area, served by the Tirso-Flumendosa system which, for example, despite being in better conditions than the other districts, in January stocked up on just eight million cubic meters of water.
The light rains in January, which did not fall throughout the island, wet the fields but the level of the reservoirs did not increase. In the Maccheronis dam of Posada, for example, only 800 thousand cubic meters of water arrived, and today the reservoir which could contain 22 million cubic meters has less than 4 million (17% of capacity). But even the dam on the Liscia, the only reservoir with the green flag, has collected just over 4 million cubic metres, and today, filled to 72% of its capacity, it is still far from the 81% of a year ago.
Yet, in this thirsty land, water waste is still enormous.
