Gangmastering in the Domusnovas countryside.

The Carabinieri of the local station, supported by the Operational and Radiomobile Unit - Operational Unit of the Iglesias Company, by the Labor Inspectorate Unit (NIL), by the Anti-Adulteration and Health Unit (NAS) and by the Ecological Operational Unit (NOE) of Cagliari, during an inspection of the sheepfolds in the area arrested a fifty-year-old agricultural entrepreneur resident in Musei, manager of a farm in the locality of Sa Firmara.

The man had a foreign worker in his employ, a 64-year-old of Indian origin, without a fixed abode or contract, who lived and worked in a situation of total exploitation, with precarious hygienic-sanitary conditions and a completely derisory wage.

Not only that, the military also found serious environmental irregularities in the company. Abandoned waste was found on the property, including potentially dangerous materials, such as objects containing asbestos and other industrial waste. Hence the accusation of illegal waste management.

As for the violations of the national legislation for the protection of workers, they are the failure to assess risks, the lack of specific training, the failure to appoint a competent doctor and the lack of adequate safety measures in the workplace . The entrepreneur was charged with administrative and criminal sanctions for a total amount of over thirteen thousand euros.

The exploited worker was transferred to a secure facility while the arrested person was placed under house arrest by order of the Judicial Authority. The investigations are ongoing.
