Tony Nicolaie , the man who disappeared from the Moby Wonder ferry which departed at 10pm on 6 May from the port of Livorno and docked in Olbia the next day just before 8am, was found dead.

The body of the man, 46, of Romanian nationality, was spotted by a fishing boat off the coast of Bastia , Corsica. The crew on board alerted the Corsican authorities, the Olbia maritime direction and the border police.

In Sardinia Nicolaie should have started working on a farm in Campidano. For this he had embarked with a group of compatriots in the direction of the island. Friends had reported seeing him for the last time at 4 am during the crossing .

But when the ferry arrived in Olbia, all traces of him had been lost. The Olbia Coast Guard intervened on the spot, also with the help of canine units, the Police and the Moby crew. The ferry had been checked from top to bottom but Nicolaie was not there.

For now, the most plausible hypothesis is that the 46-year-old voluntarily threw himself into the sea , but investigations continue to clarify what happened.
