About a hundred demonstrators, controlled by an imposing presence of the police, launched an action this morning against the CPR in Macomer, which is being called for immediately. "All CPRs must be closed - the demonstrators shout in turn - let's start with the one in Macomer". With slogans and banners, representatives of various political movements attended the demonstration announced some time ago by the Non Cpr Sardinia assembly. For security reasons, the participants were kept away from the structure (which currently hosts around fifty migrants awaiting repatriation), in the open space in front of the former brewery.

«We denounce a precarious situation of inmates and non-guests as they call them - says Teresa Concu - The State has financed two million and 600 thousand euros to double the structure. Therefore not to improve the quality of life of prisoners, who live in a precarious situation, also from an environmental, nutritional and human rights point of view. Everyone lives through 18 months of suffering." Michele Salis adds: «We continue our activity to break the silence and to stimulate debate, even within the city councils».

Leaflets are distributed, denouncing the terrible living conditions inside the CPRs. «A bad form of dehumanization - says Pier Paolo Loi - let's say enough to this serious suffering to which so many people are subjected, incarcerated in a concentration camp without having committed any crime». In the end a spontaneous procession reached Piazza Sant'Antonio, the center of the town, chanting slogans against the CPR.
