«It is a dilapidated structure where it rains inside. Not to mention the dirt everywhere . This is no respect for those who work, including policemen, doctors and social workers. Words spoken by Roberto Santini, general secretary of Sinape, the National Autonomous Union of Penitentiary Police who visited Massama prison today. « It soon becomes clear that there hasn't been a permanent director for some time - denounces Santini - Despite the renovation works, even if the structure is recent, it rains inside the prison. There's nothing clean about it. Even the courtyard is completely abandoned : the grass has reached almost a metre. Not to mention the cops who are on their last legs. Many work double shifts due to shortages, and this is not good. Many are no longer motivated. For attendance there are about 50 units less ».

After the visit, Santini decided to appeal to the Regional Superintendent for Sardinia Maurizio Veneziano: "We ask that he make an urgent inspection to be able to intervene - said Santini - There are many situations that need to be resolved". Before arriving in Massama, Santini visited the Tempio prison: "We have gone from a jewel to a completely degraded building".
