The hypothesis that there is the hand of man behind the death of numerous cats belonging to the feline colony of Piazza Pitagora in Cagliari is increasingly gaining ground.

On the case, the municipal councilor Marcello Polastri has drawn up a detailed report and has turned to the Municipality, the regional veterinary service, the ASL and the local police so that the cause of the death of seven cats can be ascertained.

«A week ago they died, apparently from a case of poisoning, 2 cats, and more specifically: an adult and a puppy. From 27 July to today, another 5 cats, 3 of which 3 adults and 2 puppies», he explains.

«Those involved in assisting and supplying food to these animals - adds Polastri - at first thought that the "death" was caused by the strong heat if not by a virus. But yesterday evening, having notified the local police of a case of a dying cat, while the volunteers were waiting for a call from a vet, in the meantime the aforementioned cat died and the local police reportedly informed them that the vet wouldn't intervene in the event that the cat was actually dead. At the invitation of the local police, they turned to the competent ASL which is based in via Nebida. After a long wait, however, the volunteers themselves have not yet been provided with the necessary assistance to be able to take care of the aforementioned animals which, in fact, continue to die anyway. The carcasses of the same are lying on the ground today and one wonders what measures will be taken immediately. If it is not the case to inform the Public Prosecutor's Office".
