Eighteen bridges judged to be "incongruous" works - that is, not perfectly compliant with the hydro-geological safety parameters - were seized in Olbia, at the disposal of the Tempio Pausania Public Prosecutor's Office.

The measure came after last January the Procurator of the Republic of Tempio Pausania Gregorio Capasso had instructed the Carabinieri of the Noe di Sassari to carry out some investigations on the failure to execute a plan for the safety of the hydrogeological risk of the city. Gallura devastated on November 18, 2013 by a tragic flood, which cost the lives - only in Olbia - to 13 people.

"From the investigations carried out on this tragic event in particular it had emerged that the drainage network that crosses the city of Olbia was (and still is) characterized by numerous serious hydraulic problems due to stretches of insufficient width compared to the project flow rates, which worsen mostly in the numerous crossings and in the graves of some watercourses ", explain the investigators.

For this reason "as a result of the investigations carried out on the affair, today the Carabinieri of Noe di Sassari, assisted by those of the Provincial Command of Sassari, are proceeding with the execution of a seizure decree on the order of the Procurator of Tempio Pausania, of 18 incongruous works still existing in the inhabited center, which should have already been demolished, in order to guarantee the correct regulation of the canals and waterways in case of rainfall: the existence of such infrastructures, in fact, is therefore still considered a condition of potential danger for the local territory and population, as well as being identified as a contributing cause of the most serious recent flood events that occurred both in 2013 and in 2015 ", concludes a note from the investigators.
