Next Tuesday, Sardinia will remember the victims of Cyclone Cleopatra . Twelve years have passed since the tragic flood . And perhaps these hours have brought an end to the scandal of the Olbia-Tempio highway, the Monte Pino section of the road closed on November 18, 2013, and never used again . A sinkhole opened on Provincial Road 38, killing three people.
Anas has finally entrusted Vitali Costruzioni with the completion of the previously unfinished section of road managed by the Province of Sassari. If all goes according to plan, the road will be safe to use by 2026 .
A long-awaited breakthrough for the road connecting Olbia with Tempio and Alta Gallura. The result was made possible thanks to an agreement between Anas, the Region, and the Province of Northeast Italy. Approximately ten million euros are available .
The Vitali Group, which has already completed the first section of the provincial road (where the collapse occurred), will complete the work with the construction of about twenty hydraulic crossings and asphalt. The regional councilor for Public Works, Antonio Piu, will be at the construction site next Tuesday for the commemoration of the victims.
And there's more good news for road traffic in the northeast of the island. Anas will intervene, as part of a €4 million plan, to improve road safety on the Sassari-Tempio (SS 672 and SS 127) following several landslides.
In Cagliari, an agreement was also signed between the Region and the Municipality of Tempio for funding (€27 million) that will allow for the construction of a new section of Provincial Road 133 (Tempio – Aglientu junction). The project will shorten travel times on the affected section, and with the straightening of the road and the construction of the Abba viaduct, numerous curves will be eliminated.
