The reconnaissance of the regional councilor, secretary of the health commission, Carla Cuccu (Idea Sardegna) at the Cto hospital in Iglesias has ended.

The visit made it possible to verify in the structure " restructured departments, equipped with the latest generation equipment and with all the health personnel (doctors, nurses, oss) with great self-sacrifice for the work they carry out and proud to be able to ensure a excellent health care for the citizens and the numerous tourists who have been pouring into the medieval-mining town for some time», explained Cuccu.

«I started my visit from the analysis laboratory of 1,400 square meters of pure technology. There are machines such as the Film Array and the Parkin Elmer, unique in Sardinia , processors for the development of top-level molecular biology and two blood culture incubators. The current Emergency Department of the CTO, also restructured, has rooms with well-defined paths; among other things, the only PS so beautiful and efficient, currently, in Sardinia. I visited the wards , which also have new equipment and are very well organised, including resuscitation which cost a good 2 million and 400 thousand euros, approximately. Finally, the operating block is a real flagship of the health care offer that the CTO can guarantee not only for Iglesias but also for the whole of Sardinia ».

The councilor writes in a note that she does not understand how the health management, in the conversations that have taken place, continues to represent a dilapidated hospital for the CTO (despite the millions of euros spent to renovate it and make it of such an excellent level) and unavailable staff. It is true that it would appear to be in the records that whenever the Sirai (also part of the same ASL Sulcis Iglesiente) is in shortage of staff, there is a claim, by the management, to unguard the CTO, whose staff is forced to backbreaking work, moving from Iglesias to Carbonia, rather than involving other personnel for Sirai by resorting to the various tools made available by the health department".

The hypothesis, argues Cuccu, is therefore that - behind the numerous problems that have emerged in the media - there is "a sneaky desire to dismantle it, slowly and inexorably".

«The corporate deed of the ASL Sulcis Iglesiente, drawn up in violation of the hospital network still in force today, was rejected for the second time. It is urgent to prevent the acclaimed will to further downgrade and sabotage Iglesias' CTO; it is urgent to communicate to the citizens that the hospital is operational and efficient ».

" I ask the Councilor for Health Doria - he concludes - to appoint a new General Manager, with the indication of drawing up a company act that respects the hospital network still in force and which also provides for both hospital and territorial healthcare that responds to the needs of the population of the territory of Sulcis Iglesiente".
