In 2011 it was he who recognized the bodies of their parents, who died in an accident on state road 195, in Pula: Roberto Mameli and Ornella Cipolat, aboard their Polo, had ended up against Arst buses. Twelve years later, a terrible fate binds Luigi Paolo Fabio Mameli, 50, to that of his father and mother: he is the victim of the crash on the consortium road that from Macchiareddu leads right onto the 195, at the roundabout in the territory of the municipality of Cagliari .

The man, director of international companies in the investment sector, was born and lived in Switzerland, in Lugano, while his father Roberto (nephew of the aviator Mario who gave his name to the Cagliari airport), born in Rome, was he returned almost immediately to Cagliari, where he remained until, in the early 1960s, he left to seek his fortune across the border.

Married and with two daughters, Luigi Mameli often came to the island: in Domus De Maria he had two villas in the I Lentischi subdivision and here he also spent various periods with his young daughters. His body was taken to the cemetery of San Michele in Cagliari to await the arrival of one of his sisters.
