"Violation of the anti Covid-19 regulations, decay of assistance due to overcrowding of the medical units of the Medicine Block C and Block M, PO Duilio Casula. Request for inspection activities". We read this in the first lines of the letter that the union of the nursing professions, the NurSind, sent to the Nas of the Carabinieri, the Labor Inspectorate, the Spresal (Prevention and Safety for work) and the general directors of the Aou. "The Medicines of Block C and Block M are overcrowded: there are hospitalized not only in the corridors, but the placement of the third bed in the already small hospital rooms has also been authorized, thus exposing vulnerable patients to serious risks due to failure to apply prevention and containment measures to the spread of Covid-19 ".

"We also considered it appropriate - says Christian Cugusi, NurSind union manager - to point out that the increase in the number of patients in these operating units, with the simultaneous overcrowding of the ward and hospital rooms, obviously does not pay for the maintenance of the welfare level, both in terms of health workers, nurses and Oss employed, and in terms of the quality of service provided ". Regarding the "additional beds in the corridors, medicine shops and hospital rooms, these are stretchers, ie beds without a call bell, oxygen dispenser and aspirator and a toilet room".

"Thus - continues Cugusi - it becomes particularly complex for the operator to provide emergency interventions due to lack of space, which are not sufficient for the transit of the emergency trolley and for resuscitation maneuvers that, in general, may have to become necessary".
