The epidemiological curve of Covid is still improving in Sardinia where, in the week between 4 and 10 May , there is a decrease in the currently positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, passing from 1,792 to 1,583 . Furthermore, there was a decrease in new cases (-29%) compared to the previous week.

This is what emerges from the weekly monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation.

The incidence of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants drops in all Sardinian provinces: -26.6% in Southern Sardinia (660), -23.9% in the metropolitan city of Cagliari (620), -31.2% in Oristano (619), -34.3% in the Nuorese (482) and -34.3% in the province of Sassari (354).

IN HOSPITALS - However, the percentages of beds in the medical area (17% compared to the national 13%) and in intensive care (4.4%, + 0.4%) occupied by Covid-19 patients remain above the national average .

VACCINES - On the vaccine front, the Sardinians who received the two doses are 1,360,330, equal to 85.1%, while the percentage of the population over 5 years that has not received any vaccine dose is equal to 8.3 % (Italy average 7%) to which the over 5-year-old population is temporarily protected, as they have recovered from Covid for less than 180 days, equal to 3.6%.

The over 5-year-old population that has not received the third dose of vaccine is 5.6% (Italy average 5.9%) to which the over-5-year-old population recovered for less than 120 days, who cannot receive the third, must be added. immediate dose, equal to 10.7%.

Furthermore, according to the findings of the Gimbe Foundation, the vaccination coverage rate with fourth dose (immunocompromised people) against coronavirus is 18.6% (Italy average 21%), while with fourth dose among the over 80, RSA guests and fragile range 60-79 is 3.1% (Italy average 8.7%).

Finally, the children between 5 and 11 years old who have completed the vaccination cycle represent 42.9% (Italy average 34.4%) to which add a further 4.5% (Italy average 3.5%) only with the first dose.
