It should be a "low intensity" unit, therefore not for the seriously ill, because there are no respirators, but also at the Marino hospital - as at the Santissima Trinità and at Binaghi (both full) - they arrive positive with symptoms from half of Sardinia, from Carbonia, from San Gavino, from Oristano, from Nuoro, as well as from the other Cagliari structures that are theoretically Covid free, and the situation is becoming unmanageable .
At Marino in the last Covid ward opened (last Saturday) in the city, out of 38 beds, 20 have already been occupied. The rest, at this rate, will be within a couple of days.
There is only one doctor, helped by a few nurses, to look after all the patients, and the lack of staff is a widespread problem throughout the island.
THE NUMBERS - Sardinia is in contrast with many regions: hospitalizations are still increasing, the percentage of occupancy of beds in the Covid medical area is now at 26%, intensive care drops to 14% according to Agenas data.
As happened for the swabs - the fact that until last week only the molecular ones were taken into consideration meant that the situation on the circulation of the virus in the island was very underestimated - for hospitalizations the speech is similar.
"Our seats are practically all occupied - says the medical director of the Pou Sergio Marracini - and more than this we are unable to do, also because there are no more doctors, and those who are are literally bursting".
MONOCLONAL IN ALGHERO - Meanwhile, monoclonal therapies are already in use in several hospitals (eleven authorized structures), but the clinic just opened in Alghero is unique in northern Sardinia.
"Here the challenge - explains Antonietta Bifulco, contact person for territorial Covid therapies of the ASL of Sassari - was to take the therapy outside the hospital wards".
The first three fragile patients arrived yesterday afternoon to undergo monoclonal therapies. People on dialysis, who with Covid risk developing the most dangerous manifestations of the disease. “The goal is therefore to decongest the hospitals, - continues the referent - preventing patients from accessing no-Covid areas, contaminating them. In this way there is also a reduced risk for healthcare professionals. Finally, any adverse event can be easily controlled, given the proximity to the emergency room ". As the crow flies, less than a hundred meters.
