Continuous blackouts and water supply interruptions in Piazza Yenne, Cagliari . The outage, which is similar to the one that occurred on August 5th at Poetto , occurred yesterday, Thursday, August 21st, and continued throughout the day.

The owners of local businesses were furious, having received no prior warning or other official communication. Many were forced to close .

"The square, one of the main hubs of the city's historic center, has remained virtually deserted: the inability to guarantee adequate service has forced many businesses to reduce or suspend their opening hours, causing serious economic and image damage," reports Fipe Confcommercio Sud Sardegna, expressing "deep concern about the frequency with which service disruptions occur in key areas of the city , during a crucial period for tourism and the local economy."

For Emanuele Frongia , president of the association, it is "incredible that on August 21st, in a city with a vocation for tourism, there is no adequate planning for essential services. " Unforeseen events can happen, he admits, "but when they are so frequent, it is legitimate to wonder whether anything was planned."

Also because the economic damage to the operators is compounded by " reputational damage for the city and for those who work every day to offer hospitality and quality to citizens and visitors."

FIPE is calling for discussions with institutions and public service providers to find concrete solutions and "avoid the recurrence of similar situations." What strikes operators most is "the sense of total disconnection," the fact that everything happens "without any communicative logic, without any connection to those carrying out the work or overseeing the repairs. As if it were now established that these incidents simply have to happen, and that the entrepreneur must get used to enduring them, reorganizing completely independently."
