Great condolences to Sennori for the death of Luigi Berlinguer , which occurred yesterday in Siena. The former minister was mayor of the town from 18 November 1960 to 8 December 1964 and, previously, had held the position of municipal councilor from 1956 to 1960.

In a note, the mayor Nicola Sassu, the council and the council underline how Berlinguer, «although his professional and political commitments took him away from Sardinia, he always continued to be interested in his land of origin and in Sennori. In 2015 he enthusiastically joined the association "I Sindaci per Sennori", a non-profit organization founded on the initiative of the then mayor, Roberto Desini, which brought together former mayors and committed to planning activities aimed at the participation, information and training of citizens on public administration and civic education, as well as on the history, culture and traditions of Sennori and Sardinia".

«We mourn the passing of our illustrious fellow citizen, Professor Luigi Berlinguer, a political, institutional and human figure who left an indelible mark in Sennori and brought prestige with his work and his life to our country, of which he was the unforgettable first citizen over the years. Sixty", adds the mayor. «On behalf of the municipal administration and all the citizens of Sennori I offer my deepest condolences to the family, expressing gratitude for what Professor Luigi Berlinguer did for Sennori and for the whole country, and immense condolences for his passing».
