"It happened while there were no lessons, the Lord has pardoned us." These are the words of the mayor of Cagliari, Paolo Truzzu, who rushed to the Magisterium as soon as he became aware of the collapse of the building that housed the classrooms of the language faculty.

"Had it happened a few hours ago", added the mayor, "it would have been a massacre".

The structure was occupied by children and teachers until late afternoon. This is why "the mood", adds Truzzu, "is that of someone who knows that our life hangs by a thread".
