The gang rape trial against Ciro Grillo and his Genoese friends Edoardo Capitta, Vittorio Lauria and Francesco Corsiglia has reached its final stages, almost six years after the events.

It is the day of the closing speech of the chief prosecutor of Tempio, Gregorio Capasso , who will make his requests: he will speak for a long time, so the hearing could even end tomorrow. All the defendants are present except Francesco Corsiglia, the only one who had made statements in the previous hearings. The son of the founder of M5s left Genoa yesterday with his lawyers . If they want, at the end of the closing speech they can ask to make statements before the judges.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 1st July, it will be the turn of the civil parties. Following that, on 10th, 11th and 12th July, it will be the turn of the defense of the defendants .

The story dates back to July 17, 2019 : the four young people, all 19 years old, were in Costa Smeralda for a vacation in Beppe Grillo's villa in Cala di Volpe, Arzachena. At the disco they met two girls and at the end of the evening they all went together to Grillo's house. One of the two fell asleep and it was at that moment that the other - at least that's what she says in the complaint - was raped. First by Corsiglia alone, then by all four together according to what was reported . Another charge concerns the other girl, perhaps the unwitting victim of rape while she was sleeping. In fact, during the investigations, sexual images made by the young people while she was sleeping were found.

The defendants, however, maintain that the alleged victim was consenting , and that nothing more than a prank with the other girl who was sleeping happened.

According to the prosecution and the civil party, the defendants took turns abusing the student, now 23 years old, taking advantage of her psychological and physical inferiority at that time due to an excess of alcoholic beverages consumed during the evening.
