"I could have walked away. I made the wrong choice. The worst choice." He began with spontaneous statements. Then he answered questions. The preliminary hearing of Emanuele Ragnedda, the forty-one-year-old—assisted by lawyer Luca Montella —who confessed to the murder of Cinzia Pinna, the thirty-three-year-old from Castelsardo whose body was found yesterday on the businessman's estate, between Arzachena and Palau, lasted just under two hours before the investigating judge of the Tempio court, Marcella Pinna.
In Tempio Pausania Court, Ragnedda confirmed what he stated yesterday during questioning by the Carabinieri, the investigating prosecutor Noemi Mancini, and Tempio's chief prosecutor, Gregorio Capasso, immediately after his arrest: he revealed that he shot his victim on the night of September 11th, at the height of an argument. He said he did so after becoming frightened—and his actions were also influenced by drug abuse—because the woman approached him with an object in her hand. Rather than flee, he decided to fire his gun, which he legally owned. Living in an isolated area, he feared for his safety. He turned it on a woman and pulled the trigger.
"He confirmed everything and added some details," said the chief prosecutor of Tempio, Gregorio Capasso, as he left the courthouse.
The investigators' work, however, is not over. The victim's cell phone is missing, as are the clothes she was wearing on the night of the crime. And attention has also focused on events that allegedly occurred on a Saturday after the murder, when several individuals whose activities remain to be clarified went to the house and land in Conca Entosa, after Cinzia Pinna had been dead for some time.
