«She had gone to the beach to feel good and have a little distraction, just two months ago these kids lost their mother due to an illness».
His voice breaks with tears Radouane Bennadi, 45, carpenter and father of Amira Bennadi, the 10-year-old girl of Moroccan origin, born and raised in Macomer, who yesterday drowned in the waters between Porto Alabe and Magomadas.
The older sisters who were with her were saved: a 17-year-old and a 12-year-old, accompanied to the San Martino di Oristano hospital due to a principle of drowning.
THE TRAGEDY – In the early afternoon yesterday a friend, a volunteer in the CPR of Macomer, had passed the house where Amira lived with her father Radouane and six brothers and sisters in the Scalarba district.
Together they decide to spend a few hours at the beach and go towards the coast of Tresnuraghes . They arrive in Noesola, between Porto Alabe and Magomadas, a rocky stretch little frequented by swimmers and where, perhaps for this very reason, the lifeguard service is not active even if the red flag was present yesterday. The mistral blows hard and the sea is rough. After chatting on the beach, the girls get into the water and play.
The tragedy is consumed in a few moments, high waves and the current drags the three sisters away. It immediately became clear that there was nothing they could do for the little girl: any rescue attempt was useless.
