Sacrilegious theft during the night at the crypt of the Cathedral of San Antonio Abate, in the historic center of Castelsardo . The thieves stole precious objects, necklaces and jewels from the simulacra, a pledge of devotion to the statues.

Unknown individuals are said to have entered the museum area enriched by the works of the anonymous artist known as the Maestro di Castelsardo, forcing entry and moving the cameras of the video surveillance system.

The discovery was made this morning, when some religious people noticed the theft of some precious stones. The Carabinieri of the Valledoria company are currently on site, busy carrying out surveys and quantifying the damage suffered and the value of the stolen objects.

The museum area would be controlled by an alarm system that at that moment, for reasons yet to be ascertained, would not have been triggered. Since 1503 the seat of the bishop's chair of Ampurias, inside the hypogeal crypts below host the precious collection of the diocesan museum. The military is investigating the incident.
