On Thursday 23 November, at 10am, on the Blue Flag beach of the Sacred Heart/Ampurias, in Lu Bagnu, an awareness day will take place on the serious phenomenon of the removal of sand, pebbles and shells from the coasts of the island, as well as on the issues of protection and sustainable management of marine, coastal and terrestrial ecosystems, with the involvement of children from the Castelsardo Primary School.

Another appointment of the "Bring Sardinia in your heart" project, carried out by the Special Park Agency of Porto Conte Ceas Porto Conte with its CEAS (Environmental and Sustainability Education Center) in close collaboration with the ADM - Agency of the Excises, Customs and Monopolies of Sardinia as part of the memorandum of understanding signed by the two bodies for the protection of the territory, which provides, in particular, for the return, to the beaches to which they belong, of the marine finds seized by the ADM personnel, in collaboration with the Guardia di Finanza, during the control of departing travellers. The protagonists of the day will be the young students who, coordinated by the staff of the Customs and Monopolies Agency - Territorial Operational Section of Alghero and of the Ceas Porto Conte headed by the Porto Conte Park and the Capo Caccia Isola Piana Protected Marine Area, will present in the original place, the beach of Lu Bagnu, the sand, the shells and the pebbles, illegally taken and intercepted at Alghero Airport.

The phenomenon of the removal of sand and shells in Sardinia has long assumed worrying contours and dimensions, so much so that in 2017 Regional Law no. 16 was established, which prohibits the removal, detention and sale of materials taken from the Sardinian coast, without regular authorization issued by the competent authorities, under penalty of an administrative fine of between 500 and 3 thousand euros.
