The works have started in recent days and it is expected to be completed by the beginning of the summer : they include the removal of the waste material, the creation of a gripping tooth, preparatory to the implementation of future renaturalization interventions, which will allow avoid any slippage downstream of them, due to exceptional weather events.
Once the waste or excavated material has been removed, the walls will be sandblasted, useful for removing any moving parts of loose material or any rusty parts of the steel tubes for micropiles, which are subject to the action of atmospheric agents, the installation of a sheet of electro-welded mesh clamped to the wall with special hooks and, finally, a shotcrete lining will be created to fully incorporate the mesh. «This Administration has not only thought to deal with the emergency but has worked, in recent months, to draw up a global project to secure the entire slope starting from Via Colombo up to Lu Poltu di la Rena », underlined the mayor Antonio Maria Capula . «This is to protect the safety of citizens who live or pass through the neighborhood but also to address an environmental problem that has never before seen a large-scale and decisive project ».
