Painter Stefano Masili, originally from Carbonia, has died at the age of 73. Mayor Pietro Morittu announced the news, calling it "a grave loss for the cultural and artistic world of the city of Carbonia."

"He defined himself as a maker of images and dreams," recalls the mayor, "who always combined his work as an administrative assistant in the public administration with the use of brushes, nibs, and colored Indian ink. A passion he inherited from his father. His masterpieces were always structured according to narrative sequences, reproducing still lifes, but it was the Agaves cycle that fascinated him the most."

Mayor Morittu and the entire municipal administration "express their condolences and extend their deepest sympathies to the family of Stefano Masili, an artist who brought prestige and fame to the city of Carbonia beyond national borders, contributing to the cultural promotion of the art of Sulcis Iglesiente. Indeed, he has been featured in numerous exhibitions in museums not only in Italy, but also in countries such as France, Germany, and England."
