He noticed a person in obvious difficulty in the water , about 150 meters from the shoreline , and despite the adverse sea conditions he did not hesitate for a moment to dive into the water to attempt a rescue.
The swimmer, who was at the mercy of the waves and was screaming for help, was then dragged to shore, where he received first aid.
The episode occurred in recent days in Cala Sinzias, Castiadas, and the protagonist of the act of generosity and extreme courage was the Carabiniere, Vincenzo Marangoni, who was off duty at the time.
Marangoni's gesture was recognized as crucial in saving the tourist's life and for this reason the Commander of the 9th Carabinieri Battalion "Sardegna" of Cagliari, Colonel Alfonso Musumeci, wanted to publicly express, this morning and on behalf of himself and the entire department, his deepest satisfaction, underlining the high sense of duty and spirit of service that the soldier demonstrated even outside of service hours.
Words of appreciation also came from the Provincial Commander of the Carabinieri of Cagliari, who has been closely monitoring the delicate situation through the local military personnel who intervened.
