Seventeen migrants, who declared themselves Iranian, including one injured man, landed this morning on the southwestern coast of Sardinia.

The Carabinieri of the Pula and Domus De Maria stations intercepted them in Cala Cipolla, near Chia, following a tip-off.

The migrants initially reported that they had been victims of a shipwreck and that some of them were missing. For this reason, the Port Authority was contacted and the Carabinieri Helicopter Unit from Elmas was activated for a search.

Subsequently, the alarm was called off, with the Coast Guard announcing that after all the checks there had been no shipwreck with missing persons.

Of the 17 migrants intercepted , one was injured and was rescued by 118 personnel, who arranged for the activation of the air ambulance to transfer him to the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari.
