(ANSA) - CAGLIARI, JULY 29 - The Cagliari City Council has given the green light to a budget variation of approximately €27 million, which was approved with only a majority vote. The proposal was presented by Mayor Massimo Zedda, who highlighted the significant uncommitted surplus funds to be allocated to strategic interventions for the city: "In this first year of office, the administration has undertaken significant budget restructuring. With this change, significant resources will be allocated to social services (€20 million), including: fibromyalgia grants, rent support, social and health integration initiatives, grants for emigrants returning to Sardinia, assistance for people with severe disabilities lacking family support, poverty reduction initiatives, sports, and therapy for people with disabilities. Among the public works projects, noteworthy are: securing the rocky slopes from Sant'Elia to Marina Piccola, measures to reduce hydrogeological risk and manage floods, and strengthening cycling mobility through urban cycle paths." "Many other resources will be allocated to public green space redevelopment, urban safety, maintenance of street lighting and public housing, maintenance of the Bonaria cemetery and the Terramaini swimming pool, restoration and enhancement of the monuments of the Saint Remy and Santa Caterina bastions, services supporting the operation of the Civic School of Music, and maintenance of roads, squares, and sidewalks," Zedda added.
