They have always been part of viale Trieste , and are among the protagonists of the landscape of the center of Cagliari . The ficuses in the center , however, grow from year to year, and with them the roots.

So much so that now they are invading the sidewalks, often uneven due to the "walking" of the trees underground . Thus, passers-by say, it often happens to be forced to slalom in order not to risk tripping : for older people, the sidewalks risk becoming a danger.

In one point of the avenue, near Piazza del Carmine, the strength of the ficus is evident: the passage to pedestrians is prohibited and the barriers invite you to walk wide. The works of the municipality for the water pipeline, under the road, reveal how deeply the roots have penetrated .
