The project of the new Via San Paolo urban park is getting closer and closer to its completion and «it will be bigger, thanks to the acquisition of areas previously excluded from the original plan ». The Municipality of Cagliari made it known with a note. Once finished, it will transform the area close to the Santa Gilla pond into a multifunctional sports-educational space.

A key role in ensuring the smooth progress of this intervention was played by the municipal council which imposed the expropriation constraint on the additional spaces. The junta then sanctioned their role of public utility. For the mayor Paolo Truzzu "the inclusion of these new areas in the global project represents an important step towards the creation of an inclusive and multifunctional urban space, usable by citizens, visitors and tourists".

The works, according to the forecasts of the technicians, will probably resume by November 2023. They had stopped due to a legal dispute relating to the contract. In the meantime, the expropriation procedures for the buildings in via San Paolo n. 32 and via Mincio no. 2 have advanced significantly, allowing them to be eliminated. However, "at the end of the contract, the handicraft buildings located approximately at number 46 of via San Paolo will remain unchanged - the manager of the Public Works service points out - which are not included in the current contract in progress". The works should be finished by December 2023 , although some revisions or implementations may be necessary to ensure the optimal realization of the Park.
