The Christmas markets are back in Cagliari: 40 wooden houses will be installed between Corso Vittorio Emanuele and Piazza Yenne from 1 December, while the installation of lights in the historic shopping streets is already underway.

«It will be a different party than in recent years», said the municipal councilor for productive activities, Alessandro Sorgia, «With the reduction of the restrictive measures, which characterized the toughest period of the pandemic, we expect a strong participation of families and tourists who will be able to appreciate quality craftsmanship, excellent gastronomic products, commercial products, drinks and hobbyists».

The workers are at work assembling the party lights. A decision, despite the crisis, "motivated by the strong idea of not leaving the merchants alone and making that Christmas atmosphere that drives people to leave the house and stroll downtown, admiring and buying quality local products, more lively and intense". Sorgia explained. The intervention will cost around 200 thousand euros.

The traders believe in the initiative: «In one week», explained Emanuele Frongia representing the Natural Shopping Center Corso Vittorio Emanuele, organizer of the event, «the reservations of the houses sold out, to underline the interest of artisans and merchants for the initiative.

In Corso Vittorio Emanuele it will begin on 1 December and close on 29 January, while in Piazza Yenne it will arrive on 7 January, to then leave room for other planned initiatives.

In Piazza Yenne there will also be a small wooden patio where artisans and producers will demonstrate their art, producing their creations live. Also in the square there will be a grand piano which will be left available to anyone who would like to play it.
