A house illegally occupied by a young woman was cleared this morning on Via Is Cornalias, Cagliari.
According to reports, this is the execution of a seizure order issued by the preliminary investigations judge, likely linked to the new provision of the so-called "security decree," which aims to speed up the eviction of illegally occupied homes.
"We're surprised," says Gianfranco Sollai, the woman's lawyer, "given that after the occupation, a dialogue had been established with the municipality, and my client was regularly paying her rent. Furthermore, a request for review of the preliminary hearing judge's order is pending."
There were moments of tension in the initial stages: several patrols from the local police, Carabinieri, and Guardia di Finanza responded to the scene to enforce the order. Thanks in part to the lawyer's intervention, calm was restored, and alternative accommodation was found for the woman, who has children.
Sollai, however, raises serious concerns: "Police, traffic wardens, and finance officers: all for a mother with an eight-year-old daughter who, out of need, occupied a vacant house. The deployment of force suggests they were intercepting a criminal."
