A massive urban cleanup and redevelopment operation began on April 15, involving several uncovered areas of the neighborhood. Desired by the municipal administration, the initiative aims to free Sant'Elia from the accumulation of dirt and illegal abandonment that have been tarnishing its image for too long.

The intervention teams have already renovated dirt areas, squares and strategic parking lots: via Amerigo Vespucci, piazza Lao Silesu, the area around the “Palazzo Bodano” (between via Schiavazzi and via Cossiga), piazza Luigi Falchi, piazza Bernardo Demuro and the Cuore parking lot in via Vespucci are just some of the areas reclaimed.

The cleaning plan, coordinated by the Hygiene, Urban Decorum and Environment Service, will continue in the coming days, involving additional areas identified in the territory.

The stated objective: to restore dignity to the entire neighborhood and discourage new abandonments, also thanks to the installation of video surveillance systems that will monitor the newly cleaned areas.
