An intervention announced a few weeks ago by Mayor Massimo Zedda in the Council. And which, for a few days, has been becoming reality. It is the removal - after years - of the scaffolding of the Sa Domu building, in via Lamarmora in the Castello district. Unused for over a decade, in December 2014 the premises of the former Manno middle school had been occupied by a hundred students and still today have not been cleared. But, in the meantime, they are proceeding with the removal of the scaffolding - inserted years ago to contain the fall of materials from the decorative frames that had deteriorated - which had repeatedly created problems for traffic . And which had recently led to the temporary closure of the road precisely because of the unsafe scaffolding.
The Public Works department is taking steps to permanently remove the scaffolding on Via Lamarmora, following accidental impacts from vehicles in transit. Following a new accident caused by a large vehicle, the unstable parts have been secured by installing a double structural net anchored to the masonry, suitable for containing the loss of materials in both the thin and thicker fractions. The work will be completed in the next few days and the road will be returned to vehicular circulation and traffic, allowing the passage of bus line number 7 .
To contain the fall of materials from the deteriorated decorative frames, the municipal administration opted for a modern and effective solution: a double structural net , firmly anchored to the masonry, capable of retaining any fragments and ensuring the stability of the area.
Yuri Mario Marcialis, Councilor for Mobility, Urban Infrastructure and Management of Municipal Offices, states: «We believe that every intervention, even the smallest, must contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens. Urban decorum and safety are not details , but fundamental for a lively, welcoming city that respects its historical identity».
