They forced entry to an office attached to a gas station on Viale La Plaia and stole the cash in the register. They thought they could get away with it by fleeing on foot, but the Carabinieri tracked them down and arrested them within minutes. Two 22-year-olds, already known to the police, living in Olbia and Genoa, ended up in handcuffs.

It happened on Thursday evening. The owner's timely report to 112 immediately triggered a search by the radiomobile section of the Cagliari company's Norm. The military intercepted the two inside the "Iperpan" supermarket, not far from the place of the theft. They still had part of the loot on them, which was later returned to the rightful owner.

The two young men, both unemployed, were arrested red-handed on charges of aggravated theft in competition .

After the formal procedures, they were held in the security cells of the Cagliari-Villanova Carabinieri station, awaiting trial with a direct trial.

Investigations are still ongoing to verify whether the two may be involved in other similar thefts that have recently occurred in the city.
