Two more months of passion, but in two months the section of the surface underground under construction from Piazza Repubblica to Piazza Matteotti in Cagliari will be able to add, to the part of the route already completed, a crucial hub for traffic : the short but fundamental (for the city traffic) taken from the Metrocagliari station to the tracks that the teams of workers have already partially laid in via Dante, in the direction of viale Cimitero.

The date is January 30th : the company that is building the track on behalf of Arst (which Metrocagliari heads) is officially authorized by the Municipality to lay the tracks in Piazza Repubblica, interrupting traffic in turn on the three streets between former Sardinian Biochemical Institute and the metro station. The works are already underway on half of the roadway that leads to via Alghero, or via Dante, the vehicles arriving from via Tuveri.

As soon as that stretch is completed, the teams will close the road closest to the ex Biochimico (or ex Upim) to traffic, so it will be tortuous from via Deledda to reach via Pessina . To do this, the vehicles will have to use the small link now reserved for public transport. Then it is precisely there that the workers will move, to then conclude with the middle of the lane between via Tuveri and via Alghero. All by March 31st.

There will be suffering, from one day to the next the lane towards via Pessina will be occupied by barriers but, explains the municipal councilor for traffic, Alessio Mereu, «it is a small price to pay for two months, moreover with partial closures, for then have a subway that from Settimo San Pietro crosses the whole city and reaches the heart of the historic center, in Piazza Matteotti».
