They would have liked to hang flags (150). And there were some sails: 4 tied up and 10 on the ground. All around the Bastion, in Piazza Costituzione and beyond, to draw attention to “Archeologika”, the first archeology fair in Sardinia, taking place in Cagliari in the spaces of the covered walk, from 13 to 16 October.

But the marketing idea crashed into the Municipality offices, which said no: authorizing the installations, it seems, would have entailed risks for the stability of the light poles, where flags and sails would have been attached. While for those on the ground it would be obstructed the passage of pedestrians.

The idea was from the Sps Sviluppo Performance Strategy of Olbia, which works with the Mont'e Prama foundation, organizer of the event in collaboration with the regional tourism department: all the billboards were trivially necessary to draw attention to the event and call passers-by towards the covered promenade, potential visitors to the exhibition.

Authorizations were requested from the Municipality, which involved all the departments concerned. And everyone said yes (the Superintendency was okay) except the one who deals with infrastructures and road networks.

“The installation of the 150 flags on public lighting poles negatively interferes with their static nature”, is written in the opinion. Same answer for “the installation of the 4 sails on the public lighting pole positioned in the roundabout in Piazza Costituzione”.

And the totems sail ashore, in the various entrances, including that of the Garden under the walls? From the councilor they say that “they present critical issues regarding the safety of pedestrian traffic, since they interfere with it in relation to the possibility of rotation and orientation to the wind which could generate unpleasant collisions, especially for weak users.

Yes, on the other hand, on a banner hanging on the wall of the staircase. But only to that, the only external element that warns passers-by that there is an event on the Covered Walk.
