New investigations into the bodies of Luigi Gulisano and Marisa Dessì, the 79 and 82 year old couple, found lifeless in their home on Via Ghibli in Cagliari on 5 December 2024, have been ordered by the Cagliari Public Prosecutor's Office.
The task will be assigned on Friday by the prosecutor Rossana Allieri to the coroner Roberto Demontis. The professional will have to analyze, in particular, some skin samples, also to identify the exact date of death. Death by respiratory arrest remains the fixed point on the cause of death, together with the presence of sodium nitrite in the digestive system of both victims, which led the investigators of the Arma to hypothesize a poisoning by nitrite dissolved in the coffee.
The defense consultant of the only suspect, one of the couple's two sons, Claudio Gulisano, 44, will also participate in the investigations, assisted by the lawyer Luigi Sanna, the other son is instead the injured party with the lawyer Gianluca Aste. In the meantime, the Carabinieri of the RIS are entrusted with other investigations on some T-shirts and a pair of shoes seized from Gulisano in the cell of the Uta prison where he has been locked up since December 30, 2024 on charges of double voluntary homicide.
At the moment there is no certainty as to how the couple were killed: whether poisoned as hypothesized in an initial phase of the investigation or suffocated with pillows, a possibility that emerged at a later stage. If this hypothesis is confirmed, sodium nitrite could have been used only to create the false lead of mushroom poisoning.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, the motive for the double homicide would be financial: Gulisano would have killed his parents to inherit some properties that the couple owned in the city. The man would in fact have financial problems linked to the failure of a market that his father had given him . The 44-year-old would also be framed by a video that would portray him in a place that does not correspond to his alibi, some testimonies, in addition to the contents of his parents' cell phones and what was stored on his smartphone.
