The councilor for urban ecology, environment and public greenery of the Municipality of Cagliari, Luisa Giua Marassi and the president of the Cagliari section of the Enpa Odv Association, Patrizia Di Rupo, signed a memorandum of understanding between the municipal administration and the association yesterday.
The document will be valid for 36 months and will be renewable annually. The ultimate goal is to define and implement a collaborative project on activities dedicated to animal welfare. The Authority will have to, in coordination with the Department of Urban Ecology, Environment and Public Green, promote awareness campaigns against the abandonment and mistreatment of animals, carry out information activities on the obligations relating to the canine registry and on the regulations regarding feline colonies, as well as encourage the adoption of dogs admitted to municipal facilities. It will also deal with planning aimed at educating and respecting animals, with activities aimed at their environmental sustainability and respect for urban decorum.
The memorandum of understanding represents a first step towards the involvement of associations, individual volunteers and animal rights associations in the area.
