Construction of the Cagliari metro, between Piazza Repubblica and the train station, will begin on Monday, October 6th.

The intervention will involve significant changes to traffic flow on Viale Diaz, where they will remain in force until 25 May 2026 .

The affected section is between Via della Stazione Vecchia and Via Pirastu. Here, the roadway will be reduced to a single 3.50-meter-wide lane in each direction. At the same time, a permanent parking ban will be implemented, with forced removal, on both sides of the road. The speed limit will be lowered to 30 kilometers per hour.

The intersection of Viale Diaz and Via Sonnino will remain open to traffic. Turning left onto Via della Stazione Vecchia will be prohibited towards Viale Poetto, while at the intersection with Via Sonnino, only straight and right turns will be permitted, regulated by traffic lights.

Vehicles coming from Piazza Amendola and heading towards Via Sonnino will be permitted to turn left and straight on, also controlled by the traffic lights.

The same regulation applies to those travelling on the left half-lane of Via Sonnino , in the direction of Viale Diaz, at the intersection with Viale Bonaria.

On Viale Bonaria, in the section between Via Sonnino and Via della Stazione Vecchia , the lane reserved for local public transport will be temporarily revoked, while on Via Sonnino — in the section between Viale Bonaria and Viale Diaz — a speed limit of 30 kilometres per hour will come into effect.

Safe pedestrian transit will be guaranteed throughout the entire work period, thanks to protected walkways throughout the affected area.
