The body of an elderly man in an advanced state of decomposition was found this morning inside a home in Piazza Medaglia Miracolosa, Cagliari.

Firefighters and emergency workers responded to open a door: it seemed like a routine job. Once inside, they made a gruesome discovery: the body was on the floor, the building was upside down, and traces of blood were found.

The most likely theory at the moment is that of an accident: the elderly man may have fallen and sustained an injury.

Officers from the Flying Squad arrived on site to carry out initial investigations.
