Cagliari, Israeli basketball team on the field: ProPal protest, arena sealed

Via Rockefeller was cordoned off by police officers and Carabinieri in riot gear in Cagliari for the demonstration in support of Palestine, coinciding with the Israeli team Hapoel Tel Aviv's match in the City of Cagliari - City of Sun basketball tournament, at the sports hall.

The protesters are accusing the club's owner, "solar energy magnate Ofer Yannay," who is described in the rally's call as "a fervent supporter of the Israeli occupation army, who actively facilitated the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza through direct donations to the army."

Starting in the early afternoon, public order vehicles blocked access to the Palapirastu, leaving the protesters—just over fifty in number—in the upper section, near the entrance to Viale Diaz. No particular tensions were reported.
