He insulted passers-by, between via Bacaredda and via Tempio in Cagliari, in an evident state of alcoholic alteration. Then he began to mistreat a classmate, also violently headbutting her.

The alarm was immediately raised by passers-by who witnessed the scene and the carabinieri intervened: the man, a 44-year-old Irish tourist, reacted by pushing and threatening at the sight of the soldiers, refusing every invitation to calm down, so much so that a taser was used to sedate him, in compliance with operational procedures.

The victim , the same age and compatriot as the attacker, was assisted by the 118 paramedics who also assessed the man's conditions, but refused hospital admission and did not file a complaint.

The man was however reported at large for aggravated personal injury and resisting a public official ; his position is now being examined by the judicial authorities.
