A car caught fire shortly after 9 this morning while it was driving on via Lungosaline, towards Cagliari .

First smoke, then flames, forced the driver to pull over to the side of the road as the fire spread from the hood to the rest of the vehicle. The owner was unharmed.

The traffic, which at the time was not particularly intense, was regulated by a passing patrol of carabinieri. Firefighters were also at the scene and made the area safe.
