In Cagliari , the new stadium and the new arena are incompatible. It is the thesis of the opposition in the city council, poured into a question - the first signature is by Matteo Lecis Cocco Ortu (Pd) - filed immediately after the public presentation of the project for the construction of the new sports house which should rise in the parking lot Heart of Sant'Elia.

The minister Andrea Abodi, the mayor Paolo Truzzu and the president of the Region, Christian Solinas, described the structure of the future, which could also be used for concerts and conferences. Designed by the Volleyball Federation, it will cost 25 million: part of the funds will come from the Pnrr and the other from the Region.

For Lecis Cocco Ortu and his colleagues from the minority in Palazzo Bacaredda, however, there is more than one problem. The municipal council, they explain, "has recently approved a substantial variant to the municipal urban plan, adapted to the PPR and the Pai, which does not provide for the construction of the building". So the 8,000-seat building would not be part of urban planning. Furthermore, this new project was presented without ever being examined by the city council.

Not only that: "One of the critical elements for the construction of the" football stadium "within the framework of the guiding project", reads the question, "is the transport study and the finding of adequate areas for parking" and the new arena "it is planned in an area where parking is planned for the new stadium" . So for the opposition, if you do one you can't do the other. In Sant'Elia, on the sporting front, the situation seems increasingly complex. And it wasn't easy even before, given the delays on Cagliari's new home.
